چکیده

The presence of microorganisms, specifically the Escherichia coli, in drinking water is global concern. This mainly due to health implications these pathogens. Several conventional methods have been developed for their removal; however, this pathogen still found most water. In continuous quest a more effective removal approach, photocatalysis has considered as an alternative method elimination pathogens including E. coli from Photocatalysis many advantages compared methods. It offers advantage non-toxicity and utilizes energy sunlight, thereby making it completely green route. Since photocatalysts could only be active ultraviolet region solar spectrum, which less than 5% entire challenge associated with design system harvest complete utilization photocatalytic process. review, different inactivation mechanism involved process were reviewed. Various strategies that adopted order modulate band gap explored. addition, estimating detecting presented. Furthermore, reactor designs examined. Finally, kinetics was discussed.

Photocatalytic inactivation of E. coli with a mesoporous TiO2 coated film using the film adhesion method.

The photocatalytic inactivation of Escherichia coli with the film adhesion method by using Degussa P25TiO2 and mesoporous TiO2 coated on glass was investigated. Monodisperse spherical mesoporous TiO2 with a morphology size of approximately 800 nm was synthesized via the sol-gel approach and coated onto glass substrates without cracking by using the doctor blade method with various amounts of po...

Genetic Attributes of E. coli Isolates from Chlorinated Drinking Water

Escherichia coli, is intimately associated with both human health and water sanitation. E. coli isolates from water can either be (i) host associated commensals, indicating recent faecal contamination; (ii) diarrheal pathogens or (iii) extra-intestinal pathogens that pose a direct health risk; or (iv) free-living. In this study we genetically characterised 28 E. coli isolates obtained from trea...

Inactivation of E. Coli in Water Using Photocatalytic, Nanostructured Films Synthesized by Aerosol Routes

TiO2 nanostructured films were synthesized by an aerosol chemical vapor deposition (ACVD) method with different controlled morphologies: columnar, granular, and branched structures for the photocatalytic inactivation of Escherichia coli (E. coli) in water. Effects of film morphology and external applied voltage on inactivation rate were investigated. As-prepared films were characterized using s...

Photocatalytic inactivation of E. coli in surface water using immobilised nanoparticle TiO2 films.

Photocatalysis is a promising method for the disinfection of potable water in developing countries where solar irradiation can be employed, thus reducing the cost of treatment. In addition to microbial contamination, water normally contains suspended solids, dissolved inorganic ions and organic compounds (mainly humic substances) which may affect the efficacy of solar photocatalysis. In this wo...

A Photocatalytic Method for the Degradation of Pyrrolidine in Water

A method for the degradation of pyrrolidine in water is described. The method relaies on the photocatalytic degradation of pyrrolidine to CO2 and NH3 by UV irradiation and using titanium dixide semiconductor as a photocatalyst. Compared with direct photolysis, the semiconductor catalytic photolysis gave consistently higher degradation yields for pyrrolidine in water. T...
